From Survival to Conscious Leadership | Shakirah Forde

Some leaders build businesses from ambition.
Shakirah Forde helps them rebuild from truth.

As Founder of Georgia Sky Counseling, Shakirah works at the intersection of conscious leadership, identity-based transformation, and business growth. She guides executives and entrepreneurs who have achieved external success but sense something deeper is misaligned.

Her specialty? Helping leaders outgrow the identities that once protected them — but now limit their impact.

The Identity Ceiling

Shakirah’s work is grounded in a powerful belief:

Your business can only grow as large as your identity can expand.

Too often, leaders operate from outdated survival strategies — proving themselves, avoiding vulnerability, chasing validation — without realizing those patterns are shaping their pricing, hiring, boundaries, and strategic decisions.

The result?

Stagnation.
Turnover.
Fatigue disguised as “high standards.”

She helps leaders see what they can’t yet see: that the plateau isn’t market-driven — it’s identity-driven.

When identity shifts, everything shifts.

A Journey That Began at Twelve

Shakirah’s path into this work is deeply personal.

At twelve years old, standing in her grandmother’s kitchen, she learned her mother had died. She didn’t cry. She went back to putting groceries away.

Staying in motion became her survival strategy.

It carried her through instability, homelessness, achievement, and eventually into a successful career as a therapist. But success built from survival has a cost.

Despite checking every external box, she found herself depressed and quietly empty.

Her turning point wasn’t a new strategy — it was a spiritual awakening. Through therapy, meditation, and daily reflection, she realized she wasn’t broken.

She was living from an identity she had outgrown.

That realization didn’t just heal her. It became her life’s work.

From Survival-Based Leadership to Truth-Based Leadership

The most challenging part of Shakirah’s work is helping leaders recognize that their fatigue and stagnation aren’t external problems.

They’re signals.

Signals that who they are being as leaders no longer matches the impact they want to create.

But the reward?

Watching transformation unfold.

When leaders realign with truth:

  • Teams re-engage.
  • Decision-making clarifies.
  • Innovation returns.
  • Growth becomes sustainable instead of forced.

Businesses stop grinding for incremental progress and start expanding with alignment and intention.

When leaders build from truth, not survival, their companies become engines of real impact.

Advice to Women in Leadership

Shakirah offers this reminder:

Your identity in business is your superpower.

Stop separating who you are from what you do.

Your lived experience.
Your perspective.
Your way of seeing the world.

Those aren’t liabilities — they are competitive advantages.

And don’t wait until you’re successful but empty to ask yourself:

Who am I becoming?
And does my business reflect that truth?

The Future of Conscious Business

Shakirah is building toward a future where conscious leadership is not a luxury — but a competitive advantage.

She believes the most profitable companies of the future will be led by the most self-aware executives.

Where:

  • Profit and fulfillment are not opposing forces
  • Wealth and meaning coexist
  • Humanity is integrated, not compartmentalized

“The future of business belongs to leaders who refuse to choose between profitability and consciousness.”

The Role of Community

Through the International Association of Women, Shakirah found encouragement to step forward as a thought leader — not just a behind-the-scenes therapist.

“IAW has pushed me to be seen — to own my expertise and share my story authentically.”

Her advice to new members?

Show up authentically, not perfectly.
Take up space.
Be both student and teacher.

IAW isn’t transactional networking — it’s purposeful impact through women’s achievement.
