This week on IAW’s podcast Unlimited HERizons our host and president, Megan Bozzuto, chatted with a member, Dana Piscopo, about being your knight in shining armor to live a vibrant, sober life. Dana, or “Miss Moxie,” is sobriety and recovery coach and the owner of Color Your Life LLC. After conquering her addiction, she now helps others do the same.
During the podcast, Dana spoke to Megan about creating spaces to support people’s journey to sobriety.
Find a Resource
Like many issues in life, you do not have to face your problems alone. “If you find yourself on that path, please find a resource to help you,” said Dana. “Whether that’s just talking it out with a friend you can confide in, finding a recovery coach depending, or how far down that tunnel you are, you might want to talk to someone who is in intensive outpatient therapy for addictions. There are so many avenues people can go to to get help these days and don’t get bogged down in the stigma and shame.” Even within the corporate world, more and more organizations are supporting their employees personally and professionally.
Reclaim Your Moxie
Losing your way can sometimes mean you forget your interests, passions, and authenticity. Thus, reclaiming your moxie can propel you forward toward your goals. Dana explains moxie is like, “when you were a kid, you wanted to be an astronaut or a police officer, and you never thought twice that you couldn’t do it. So, bring that freedom, that creativity, and that love of life back into your life, and that automatically creates confidence and authenticity because you are being who you need and want to be.”
