Rita Boccuzzi on Financial Empowerment, Legacy Building, and Rising Strong

What happens when life pulls the rug out from under you? For Rita Boccuzzi, it meant finding a deeper calling. After being diagnosed with cancer and facing financial devastation—including the loss of her home—Rita uncovered a startling truth: over half of bankruptcies in America stem from medical crises. Determined to rewrite that story, she stepped into a new mission—one focused on empowerment, education, and financial sustainability.

Today, as the Founder and CEO of Flourish Inc. and Executive Vice President at Five Rings Financial, Rita is a nationally recognized TEDx Speaker, Financial Sustainability Strategist, and Financial Empowerment Advocate. She helps individuals and families create clarity, security, and confidence around their money so they can live more fully, protect what matters, and leave lasting legacies.

“True wealth isn’t just about how much you have—it’s about how secure you feel and how well you’re protected when life happens.”

From Pain to Purpose

Rita’s journey began at rock bottom. Facing the dual challenge of a medical diagnosis and financial fallout, she made a promise: no other family should have to start over because they weren’t financially prepared. That experience fueled her mission to help people understand their options, plan for the unexpected, and make empowered financial decisions.

Whether working with women entrepreneurs, families, or individuals navigating major life changes, Rita approaches every conversation with compassion, strategy, and a passion for education. Her clients don’t just learn to budget or invest—they learn how to flourish.

The Challenge and the Gift

“The hardest part,” Rita says, “is finding people who are ready—truly ready—to invest in their growth and future. But when someone leans in, asks questions, and commits to the work, the transformation is incredible.”

She describes moments when a client navigates a life crisis with strength and clarity—not because the crisis didn’t happen, but because they were prepared. “That peace of mind is the real gift,” she adds.

Her Best Advice? Start with Protection

Rita encourages women to start by asking tough—but empowering—questions: Where am I financially today? Where do I want to go? And how do I protect myself on that journey?

She’s a firm believer that financial literacy is self-care—and that the first step to building wealth is learning how to protect it.

Building a Movement

Looking ahead, Rita’s goals are all about expansion. She’s working to train and certify others across the country, spreading her methods and message to reach more people in more communities.

She credits IAW for keeping her connected and intentional. “This community has helped me stay focused on strategy while staying deeply rooted in purpose. IAW reminds me to keep showing up, even when life is busy.”

Her advice to other IAW members? “Stay engaged. If you need to pause, give yourself grace—but come back. This network is here to support you.”

A Mission Born from Adversity

For Rita, the cancer diagnosis that once threatened to derail her life became the very catalyst for her success. Now, she helps others build lives where security, strategy, and freedom go hand-in-hand.
