As an Author, Speaker and Coach, Mary Carlomagno, Owner of orderperiod.com helps bring order and calm into the lives of others.
Out of the Closet
I started out working in marketing and publishing and enjoyed a very successful career. In 2004, I decided to step out on my own and launched my company orderperiod.com, a full-service organization company. I was inspired my own experience of changing my life by changing my closet!
My goal is to help people gain control of their lives, from organizing and de-cluttering their apartments and office spaces to better managing their shopping addictions.
Taking the Leap
Entrepreneurship isn’t always an easy road but it is an exciting one! Since starting my own company, I have ventured into many other areas, including writing. I am the author of five books, including Give it Up! My Year of Learning to Live Better with Less, Secrets of Simplicity and Live More, Want Less. My audio book, Crush Your Clutter is available on Audible, and my latest venture, titled Best Friend for Hire, is a semi-autobiographical novel for which I am seeking a television deal. I’ve also written for a number of newspapers and magazines on the subject of getting organized.
I have appeared on numerous television shows such as The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Today Show, National Public Radio, and many more. One of my goals for the future is to take on more speaking engagements so I can share my knowledge and expertise with an even larger audience.
Perseverance is Key
As an expert in organizing and work/life balance, I offer three pieces of advice to those who want to make changes to their lives: Be yourself; ask for help and sit in stillness. By following these tips, you will be taking the first steps toward creating a more peaceful and balanced world around you.
It can be both challenging and rewarding to help people cement good habits that create change. The process is continuous and can often move slowly but the key ingredient is perseverance. Never give up! Ask for and accept the help that’s available to you. Nobody has to go it alone. My personal motto is Leap and the Net Will Appear!
Benefits of IAW Membership
Being an active member of IAW has helped shape my business by giving me ample opportunities to network and networking is something I truly enjoy. My advice to other members is to make the most of your membership. Be sure to network and reach out to other women in the organization.
