Dawn Airhart Witte’s life changed after her two daughters left for college. “I loved raising my daughters and being very involved in their lives while they were growing up, but I forgot who I was in the process,” she said. “Traveling to Africa by myself reminded me that I am here for a purpose, and I had dreams I wanted to pursue outside my family.”
Her soul-stirring trip to Ghana fueled her desire to make a positive impact and give back to others. She used that passion to found two organizations, The Secrets of Being and The Desire to Inspire Foundation. Both support others through personal growth retreats, mindset coaching, and providing necessities to communities. “Through my work with the Desire to Inspire Foundation, I have spent over four months in Africa, traveling to six countries, and I have learned so much about life, humanity, and the importance of loving one another,” explained Dawn. “These experiences changed my life in the best possible way, and I want to share those life-changing experiences with others.”
Helping people find fulfillment is one of the most rewarding aspects of her work. She hopes to continue building community centers around Africa that offer resources and educational opportunities. “I spent over 40 years striving to be the change I wish to see in the world, and it is my mission to uplift and inspire people to live into their highest potential, to believe in their greatness, and to share their gifts with others so that we can make the world a better place for all,” she said.
Dawn’s hard work has not gone unnoticed. She was awarded an honorary doctorate in humanitarianism from The Global International Alliance and the President Joseph R. Biden Lifetime Achievement Award. “My best advice is to believe in yourself, dream big, and do the things that scare you because that is where all the magic lies,” she said.
As she grows the foundation, Dawn joined the International Association of Women to find a community of professional support. She now connects with like-minded women entrepreneurs like herself who band together to achieve their dreams. “I love being part of a community of people who uplift, encourage, and support one another,” she said.
