Meet Janine Triano: The HR Leader Who Puts People First

For nearly three decades, Janine Triano has been at the heart of CCS Fundraising, shaping its people-first culture and guiding countless professionals toward growth. Today, as Chief Human Resources Officer, she’s known not only for her expertise but also for her unwavering commitment to helping others succeed.

From Communications to HR Leadership

Janine’s career path wasn’t something she mapped out early—it evolved naturally. With a background in communications and public relations, she joined CCS in a diverse role, handling finance, internal communications, and executive support. Her curiosity and eagerness to learn soon opened new doors, leading her into HR—a space where her love for structure, process, and people development came together seamlessly.

“When Allied Irish Bank briefly owned CCS, they recognized my strengths and officially appointed me Director of HR,” Janine recalls. “It wasn’t something I sought out, but it felt like the right fit.”

People First—Always

For Janine, HR is more than policies and performance—it’s about people. While the toughest part of her work often involves addressing underperformance, she views even the most difficult conversations as opportunities.

“A PIP isn’t a punishment; it’s an investment,” she says. “It’s a chance to give someone the guidance, structure, and resources they need to get back on track. My greatest successes are the employees who’ve gone through that process and built long, fulfilling careers here.”

Her approach is grounded in compassion and empathy, ensuring that no matter the outcome, individuals feel supported and respected.

Advice for Women in Leadership

Janine is candid about what it takes to build a successful career:

  • Be your own advocate. “You can’t just be a passenger on this journey—you need to be the one driving.”
  • Stay curious. Expand your knowledge beyond your immediate responsibilities and understand the broader business landscape.
  • Build honest relationships. Surround yourself with people who will tell you the truth—even when it’s uncomfortable—and invest in understanding what motivates those you work with.

Inspired by Family, Driven by Purpose

When asked who inspired her most, Janine doesn’t hesitate: her father.

“My dad is my hero,” she shares. “He brought me into the company and always pushed me to do better and be better. He recognized my potential in HR before I did and gave me the confidence to pursue it.”

After the loss of her mother, her father played an even greater role in guiding her forward, shaping not only her career but also the values she brings into every interaction.

Looking Ahead

As she continues her leadership journey, Janine is exploring ways to deepen her skills in business coaching, a passion that allows her to focus on what she loves most: helping people grow. Personally, she looks forward to becoming a grandmother one day—a role she’s eager to embrace with the same warmth and dedication she brings to her professional life.

Finding Support in IAW

For Janine, IAW has been a reminder to make space for what truly matters. “This community helps me move ideas from ‘someday goals’ into actionable plans,” she says. “It also pushes me—gently—outside my comfort zone and encourages me to keep moving forward.”

Her advice to women new to IAW? “Lean in. Carve out space for what matters to you. Take small steps, but make them consistent. And use the structure IAW provides to turn your goals into reality.”
