Success Means Making a Difference! Meet Chapter President Helen Morgan

Helen Morgan
Real Estate Broker
Local Chapter President, Orland Park Chapter

As a Real Estate Broker who found my passion for real estate while attending Moraine Valley Community College in search of a finance degree, I was quickly approached by an instructor with a local real estate office to pursue that path instead. After an elective course, my peers and I knew that my passion to help others, along with my passion for real estate, would make a difference in many people’s lives. So much so that I was voted “Rookie of the Year” nationwide that very same year!

My love of people and helping them, whether finding a home or encouraging them to reach their life’s goals, was the reason I became involved with the International Association of Women (IAW). When IAW decided to open a Chapter in the South / Southwest suburbs, I wanted to make a difference in the lives of women, to empower them in their rise to success; so without hesitation, I accepted the position of Orland Park Chapter President. A great decision, I might add, as I have met so many extraordinary women who have inspired me to want to do more. This placed me where I needed to be… and still am!

In the business world, my greatest achievement is my unyielding ability to connect with clients on a personal level and develop those relationships into lasting friendships. Referrals from past clients, always remind me that I chose a wonderful profession where networking helps me succeed, professionally and personally.

Recently, I took an active role in assisting seniors with their moves to retirement communities. As a senior specialist, I partner with experts to assist with very complex financial arrangements, purchases and sales agreements, mortgage approvals and closings. This can be an exciting yet stressful experience, so my goal is to make the process as stress-free, enjoyable, quick and financially beneficial as possible.

My philosophy is to treat people as I want to be treated. In today’s world, it’s hard for working adults to help their aging parents. That’s where I come in, helping seniors and their families make the transition in their living situations as seamless and beneficial as possible. I take real estate to the next level by going above and beyond the “usual” by preparing and repairing homes for sale, organizing important items and documents, helping pack and move, and so much more!

Even though my career has given me much fulfillment and success, I believe my greatest achievement is yet to come. My main goal is to build a strong Local Chapter of professional women in an environment where we can network, interact, educate, inspire and empower each other while giving back to our community. I believe the meaning of true success is making a positive difference in the lives of others!

When it comes down to it, my father, with his great work ethic and how he led by example, is my inspiration. He taught me at a young age to work hard, do what I am most passionate about and keep positive people in my life who inspire me to achieve my greatest accomplishments. His influence is why I continue to strive toward my goals of making seniors happy during their golden years, knowing I helped make a difference. Becoming financially comfortable and spending more time with family is always a plus; however, what I really want more than anything, is to hear someone say, “Because of you, I didn’t give up.” And, I believe my leadership ability and passion for IAW, will make this a reality one day.

After launching the Orland Park Local Chapter in November, the concept of giving back to women and girls in need is a number one priority. Since then, the Chapter has grown enormously, with over 240 members, and we’re growing by the day! I took my years of experience as a leader in my industry and consistently supported my IAW Local Chapter team in several charitable endeavors, including the continual collection of clothing and donations for IAW Foundation philanthropic partner Dress For Success.

It’s true that the IAW Local Orland Park Chapter is going to be bigger and better than ever in 2015. As the President, I’m proud to know, we are making a difference!

Love your story! As a new business owner, my goal is teach people how to discover how amazing they truly are and to find their passion and purpose in life. It took me years to believe I had any value and I know what that feels like and don’t want others to stay in that pit of doubt and disbelief. Your words about your father resonate with me. I too learned many of life’s lessons by watching my parents, work ethics, spiritual lives, and passion. I want to be remembered for contributing to this world, and I want my God to say “Well Done” 🙂 Thanks for sharing your story!
